It’s July!

As things are heating up outside, so is the Cromarty Cinema schedule! But not to worry, it’s the perfect place to cool down for a couple of hours of relaxation.
We’ve kicked things off with Wes Anderson’s latest whimsical offering, Asteroid City. Speaking of feasts for the eyes, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, provides ground-breaking animation and plenty of action. The latest anime by Makoto Shinkai, Suzume, follows a lonely teenager on a mission to save her country from destruction and chaos. Meanwhile, in Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, a young girl discovers she is a warrior Kraken queen. And if you’re after even more adventure, you can’t miss Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Amongst Thieves, featuring Hugh Grant and Chris Pine, based on the legendary game.
If you’re in the mood for some drama, You Can Live Forever is a soulful exploration of sexual orientation and religious faith. Reality tells the true story of a whistle-blower who exposed Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections. Prepare to be gripped by Sydney Sweeney’s excellent performance! Based on the incredible life of composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier, charts the life of the son of an African slave and a French plantation owner who rises to improbable highs in French society.
For something completely different, we bring you surrealist comedy Beau is Afraid. By the director of Midsommar and Hereditary, it stars Joaquin Phoenix as a man on epic odyssey to get home to his mother.
Finally, summer wouldn’t be complete without a couple of throwbacks. This month’s volunteers’ choice is The Big Lebowski. Don’t miss your chance to see the cult comedy on the big screen. And for a perfect Sunday matinee, come see Local Hero, the beloved 80s comedy classic by Bill Forsyth.
And finally finally, we can confirm that Dr. Jones (Harrison Ford) will be whipping his way through Cromarty, at the end of July, in the fifth instalment of the Indiana Jones saga – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny!
