May madness!

Here at Cromarty cinema we’re truly hoping April showers will bring May flowers but come rain or shine, we have a great May schedule waiting for you!
There’s plenty of action and fun on offer this month. If you’re in the market for action with a capital A, Monkey Man, Dev Patel’s wildly over-the-top revenge action thriller is just the ticket. Revisit George Lucas’ epic Star Wars: Episode 1 – Phantom Menace, or check out the latest Ghost Busters: Frozen Empire, for some hilarious action. For those after even more laughs, Two Tickets to Greece is a refreshing French female buddy comedy, while The Trouble with Jessica is a deliciously dark satire set in the world of wealthy London liberals.

As usual, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to international drama. In The Teacher’s Lounge, unsolved thefts lead to an increasingly unsettling day at a German school. A near-death experience results in the existential and sexual awakening of a woman in Georgian Blackbird Blackbird Blackberry, while Oscar-nominated Spanish animation Robot Dreams is an exquisite and bittersweet study of loneliness and friendship. Kristen Stewart keeps it real in deliciously lurid outlaw romance Love Lies Bleeding.

Fans of Ewan McGregor are in for a treat in May. In addition to Phantom Menace, we’re screening two other films starring the iconic actor. It’s the 30th anniversary of the hilarious and slick thriller Shallow Grave, and you can also catch his latest, Bleeding Love, a road-trip film starring his real-life daughter Clara.

For something a bit different, a filmmaker documents the last years of his eccentric uncle’s life in Much Ado About Dying, with often-tragicomic results. And you don’t want to miss powerhouse Andrew Scott’s one-man performance of Vanya, in the latest National Theatre Live.

A lot of you have been asking and yes, Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black is coming to Cromarty Cinema this May! And that’s not all, so have a look at everything on offer and book your tickets at https://cromartycinema.com/films/, the human box office Thursdays 12-2pm, or at the door.
Happy May from the Cromarty Cinema crew!
