Cromarty Film Festival is back!

We are delighted to announce that the Cromarty Film Festival will be back next year. It will run Friday 24th March – Sunday 26th March. We will also be running a series of trailer events on the weekend 3-4th December, including a screening of the classic screwball comedy Ball of Fire.

Sat 3rd – FREE Outdoor family-friendly international animated projections at the Lighthouse from 6:00-7:00pm
Sunday 4th Dec – £5:00 for each event (film screening and performance) OR Special Deal – £9:00 for both

SATURDAY 3RD DECEMBER – ‘TRAILER’ WEEKEND

6:00 – 7:00pm
Free family friendly international animations outdoor projections on the Lighthouse from 6:00 – 7:00pm.
Hot food will be available outside Sutor Creek Restaurant before the projections.
SUNDAY 4TH DECEMBER

3:00 – 5:15pm – intro by writer Maria Fusco + film screening of screwball comedy Ball of Fire (1941)
5:15 – 5:30pm – teas

5:30 – 6:30/45 – performance by award winning Orcadian writer HJ Giles plus Q+A with Maria Fusco
3pm screening of 1941 Howard Hawks’ screwball comedy Ball of Fire which will be introduced by writer, Maria Fusco.
“I watched the film on television when I was a wee kid and was delighted by the idea of a slang dictionary compiled by Professor Bertram Potts (Gary Cooper) with the invaluable assistance of whip-smart singer, and gangster’s moll, Sugarpuss O’Shea (Barbara Stanwyck). She runs rings around Potts and his seven academic colleagues, who would put you in mind of Snow White’s seven dwarves. It’s a sparkling anti-fairytale exploring the necessity to preserve irregular ways of speaking and the right to speak in your own way.
