Beginning in Dunfermline in 1977 and producing breakout tracks such as Into the Valley and The Saints Are Coming (later covered by U2 and Green Day), The Story of Skids: Scotland’s No. 1 Punk Band is a personal look at the band’s influence and place in the punk movement through the eyes of co-founder Richard Jobson.
From schoolboy punk to contemporary film-maker, Richard has built a compelling catalogue of music and film that reflects his Scottish upbringing.
Despite a traumatic childhood accident that resulted in epilepsy, Richard was just fifteen when he formed Skids and propelled Into the Valley into music lore as their debut single.
This cathartic documentary, featuring archive footage and new performances, finds Richard speaking openly about the challenges and experiences that have shaped his life and creativity.
Co-founder of Skids and multi-hyphenate Richard Jobson—musician, film-maker, TV presenter and author—will join director Mark Sloper (Billy Fury: The Sound Of Fury; Sid! By The People Who Knew Him) for a Q&A after the screening.
