2021 – 李念修 Li Nien-Hsiu
Jhong wakes up and finds himself dead. He watches his remaining family members dealing with his death while they speak their thoughts over breakfast. Although his wife can’t hear what he has to say, she comprehends what’s on his mind.

The old man goes to mend window screen by his bike. He passes through all scenes which make him nervous or comfortable. It is his day and also a metaphor of his life.

My grandmother is a T’ung-yang-hsi. It is a traditional practice of prearranged marriage, selling a young girl to another family to be raised as a future daughter-in-law. Based on extensive interviews and research, the film aims to reflect women’s oppression.

Contemplating the torn walls and scars, the heroine thinks of the ups and downs of love. Girl in the Water, a hand-drawn animation based on personal experiences, depicts femininity and female internal time-consciousness through the healing of a woman’ s broken heart.
