“I’m Still Here” is a provocative and audacious film that blurs the line between reality and fiction. Following the enigmatic journey of a former Hollywood star, the narrative explores themes of identity, fame, and the quest for authenticity in a world obsessed with celebrity culture. With a raw and unfiltered approach, the film challenges viewers to question what is real and what is performance, delivering a gripping commentary on the struggles of reinvention and self-discovery. The film features a wonderful score by Warren Ellis (sadly no Nick Cave collaboration this time though).
Heartrending yet never maudlin, I’m Still Here is a humanist drama that, in shining a light on insidious injustice, becomes a balm to warn and warm its audiences in equal measure.
Played wonderfully by Fernanda Torres, Eunice is onscreen almost throughout. She’s at the centre of a family drama and political thriller that really blossoms as a survival story.
