Cromarty Cinema’s March Menu: Bold Tales, Classic Elegance and Dreamscapes Await

As winter begins to loosen its grip, March at Cromarty Cinema brings a blend of hard-hitting drama, lyrical documentary, sweeping classics and inventive filmmaking.

There’s something here for everyone – to challenge and delight.

Among this month’s highlights is The President’s Cake, a remarkable narrative set in 1990s Iraq. The film follows a young girl who must summon ingenuity and courage to gather near-impossible ingredients for a mandated birthday cake, set against the backdrop of sanctions and scarcity.
Expect epic storytelling appears in One Battle After Another, Leonardo DiCaprio’s intense odyssey as a former revolutionary battling to save his daughter, and in The Leopard, Luchino Visconti’s sumptuous classic about an aristocratic family facing social upheaval during Italian unification.

Meanwhile, in All That’s Left Of You, a sweeping drama traces a Palestinian family’s life from the Occupied West Bank through seven decades of upheaval. The Shepherd and the Bear brings us into the French Pyrenees, where the reintroduction of brown bears ignites conflict and connection in a traditional shepherding community.

March also highlights bold character studies and new voices. Sinners, nominated for a record 16 Oscars, follows twin brothers returning home to open a juke joint – only to confront an evil they thought long behind them. The Moment profiles a pop star on the verge of her first headline tour, while Sirât follows a father and son into the mountains of southern Morocco searching for a lost daughter amid electronic music and nocturnal rhythms.

The Secret Agent immerses us in 1970s Brazil, where a man on the run finds himself swept into Carnival’s whirl of colour and danger.

For romantic intensity and emotional depth, Wuthering Heights returns with Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi delivering a theatrical, gothic interpretation of Emily Brontë’s tragic love story. Little Amélie, a beautifully animated Oscar nominee, invites younger audiences into a post-war world where wonder blossoms from the unexpected, as a young girl’s curiosity is ignited by something as simple and magical as chocolate.

And of course, March brings something truly special: In Dreams: A Movie Weekend, 13–15 March 2026. We’re delighted to welcome acclaimed filmmaker Mark Cousins as our first guest curator for a weekend devoted to dreams and dreaming. The programme – including Macbeth, In the Mood for Love and Brigadoon – will be accompanied by personal introductions, curated music, short films and virtual drop-ins from special guests around the world. Cromarty Cinema (and Cromarty itself) will be transformed for a weekend that’s more than screenings – it’s an atmosphere, a celebration, a transportive experience. Mark says he chose dreams because “the best films are dreamlike – and because Cromarty feels like a painting by Magritte.” Tickets are now on sale (unallocated seating). The Last Splash will have extended opening hours all weekend. Come and lose yourself in the dream.

You can browse the full March programme and book online via this website. Prefer to book in person? Visit our human box office every Thursday, 12–2pm. There will be no in-person box office on Thursday 5th but we will be open Friday 6th. Tickets are also available at the door 30min before the screening (subject to availability).

See you at the cinema!
