In secret conversations on the rooftops of Tel Aviv at night, the systems behind Israel’s calculated mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza are revealed by the people who designed and operated them.
There are things I can’t talk about, one interviewee reluctantly notes, suggesting there are true horrors that can’t be spoken of aloud. What is said during these conversations is still enough to make you scream and weep.
As a work of cinema, it is exemplary. As a work of journalism, it is inarguable. As a document, it is an indictment.
Despite so much of the image being awash in silhouette, Szor and Abraham illuminate banal evils from within the darkness where they reside.
