Bel, a new documentary by multi-award-winning director Lou Lockwood, tells the story of Beldina Odenyo, the Kenyan-Scottish musician, singer, and songwriter who performed under the stage name Heir of the Cursed, while also contributing to Scotland’s theatre and poetry scenes. Following her celebrated performance at the Scottish Album of the Year Awards in 2021, Bel tragically took her own life, leaving behind raw, personal video diaries and a hard drive filled with original songs of striking beauty.

This powerful film follows the journey of her sister and friends as they work to release her music posthumously, offering a heartfelt and insightful portrait of a complex, intelligent, and deeply gifted young woman.
